Latino Prosperity Fund Marks Milestone with $50,000 in Grants for Community Wealth Building

The ceremony took place at the Continental Club in downtown Los Angeles, bringing together civic leaders, philanthropists, nonprofit leadership, and supporters of Latino economic advancement.

The Latino Prosperity Fund (LPF) honored two distinguished leaders: Alliance for a Better Community and Las Fotos Project. LPF awarded $25,000 in unrestricted operating support to each organization.

Las Fotos Project uses photography as a pathway for young women and gender-expansive artists of color, offering free 14-week programs with professional DSLR camera access, technical training, mentorship, identity exploration, and storytelling.

Alliance for a Better Community (ABC), founded by Latino civic leaders in the late 1990s, has a long legacy of building Latino political voice, addressing systemic inequities, and advancing a proactive Latino policy agenda across Los Angeles.

The awards were presented on the evening of Tuesday, December 2, as part of Giving Tuesday, a national day dedicated to philanthropy, generosity, and community investment.

The ceremony took place at The Continental Club in downtown Los Angeles, bringing together civic leaders, philanthropists, nonprofit leadership, and supporters of Latino economic advancement.

Also in attendance were Ana Guerrero, Claudia Luna, Linda Lopez, Iris Zuñiga, and Corinne Tapia Babcock, among other key advocates for Latino advancement.

The grants are part of LPF’s ongoing mission to expand Latino prosperity through multiple pathways, including representation, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, homeownership, workforce development, AI participation, access to the green economy, and wealth-building initiatives focused on closing the Latina wealth gap.

Earlier this year, LPF opened its competitive grant process to Latino-led or Latino-serving nonprofits in Los Angeles County with budgets under $5 million, reinforcing its commitment to supporting community-rooted organizations that drive real, measurable change.
