University from El Salvador to Collaborate with U.S. Company on Agroecology Projects

A delegation from Salvadoran Lutheran University visited avocado, strawberry, and vegetable fields in Fillmore, Ventura County, California, this week as part of a new partnership with a U.S. agricultural company.

The visit followed the signing of a cooperation agreement on Sept. 20 between the university and Five Points Trading Corp., an American company based in California.

The agreement was signed in Los Angeles by Luis Arturo Castillo, CEO of Five Points Trading Corp., and Ada Ruth González, vice rector of the university.

The Consul General of El Salvador, Alejandro Letona, witnessed the signing. The agreement aims to support joint research projects, promote organic agriculture, and strengthen technical training for students and producers. Salvadoran Lutheran University, located in San Salvador, El Salvador, offers degrees in Agroecological Engineering and Agroecological Engineering Technician.

Through the partnership, both institutions seek to promote sustainable farming, exchange knowledge and agricultural technology, and improve the use of organic products and biofertilizers.
