NBCUniversal and Google announced a long-term distribution agreement on Thursday, securing and expanding the media company’s programming across Google platforms, including YouTube TV and Google TV.
The deal covers NBCUniversal’s full portfolio of channels — such as NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, and USA Network — and includes the launch of a new sports channel, NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), set to debut this fall on YouTube TV.
As part of the agreement, the streaming service Peacock will soon become available on YouTube Primetime Channels, while Universal Pictures’ movies and shows will continue to be offered on Google TV and YouTube through purchase, rental, or subscription.
NBCUniversal said the agreement will “expand the reach of its content and ensure sustained growth” in the digital ecosystem. Google, for its part, highlighted that the partnership strengthens its strategy of “making content available where and how viewers want to watch it.”
