Councilmember Imelda Padilla was appointed to the Metro Board of Directors on Wednesday night, a move community leaders say marks a significant win for equitable transit and community development in Los Angeles.
The appointment was celebrated by ICON CDC, a local community development corporation, during a gathering that recognized Padilla’s ongoing efforts to improve public transportation and expand access to economic opportunities.
Padilla, known for her commitment to service and grassroots advocacy, will represent the San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities on the board, helping shape key decisions on transit projects and infrastructure funding.
“This is not just a win for Imelda — it’s a win for our entire community,” ICON CDC said in a statement.
